Tatarstan President met with IRCICA Director General

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev has met with Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) - Halit Eren.

The meeting has been held on June 19, within the framework of the IX World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities. IRCICA Centre was created in 1980 for development of Muslim science and humanitarian relations. The centre is an independent branch of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which is coordinated buy OIC general secretariat.

After the meeting Halit Eren answered journalists’ questions. He reminded that Mintimer Shaimiev visited the head quarters of IRCICA in Istanbul within the framework of his participation in the III session of the strategic vision group “Russia - Islamic World”. During this visit RT Vice-Premier - Minister of Culture, Zilya Valeeva and Director General of IRCICA signed a Memorandum; the sides agreed to realize exchange of exhibitions in the field of culture and traditional art, feature films and documentaries, institutes of cultures, and organizations that are involved in restoration and preservation of historical and cultural monuments.

‘As representatives of IRCICA, we organize conferences connected with development of culture, - Halit Eren emphasized in the interview to journalists. - We pay much attention to issues of historical monuments preservation. The result of our work, for instance, is publications of materials of symposiums in 2001-2005 - “Islamic culture in Idel-Ural Region”. Wee are going to continue projects concerning culture and civilization of the region’.

Besides, according to the words of IRCICA Director General, the centre plans to prepare an album of ancient photographs, which are connected with culture of the Volga-Ural region. ‘This idea appeared during the conversation with Tatarstan President,’ Halit Eren emphasized.
