Mintimer Shaimiev met with Canadian Ambassador in Russia Ralph Lysyshyn

Tatarstan President has met with Canadian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Russia Ralph James Lysyshyn in Kazan Kremlin. That’s was the end of diplomat’s visit to Tatarstan. Ambassador arrived at Tatarstan on the 30th of June.

“We had adopted your experience in agriculture before. We are very grateful that we have connections within the framework of Russian and Canadian relationships on the level of subjects”, said, opening the meeting, the head of the republic. Also Mintimer Shaimiev has pointed out Ambassador’s experience and knowledge in the area of federalism, calling him one of “the biggest specialists in this area”.

Ralph Lysyshyn also wished the cooperation with Tatarstan develops in all directions, and not only in economy. “The most important thing is that I am invited to the first match of Ak Bars in the next season, - he kidded. – To be serious I am very glad that relationships between Tatarstan and Canada develop on mutually favorable basic”. He also pointed out that “he is glad that in Tatarstan there is a spirit of tolerance. It is very important for the republic”.

Now Canada has 21st place among countries-trade partners of Tatarstan. Last year trade turnover was very high: almost 82 million dollars of the USA. The example of Tatarstan and Canadian relationships was the delivery of Canadian tunnel complexes for underground building in Kazan.
