Tatarstan President congratulated Sergey Dyakonov with jubilee

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated former rector of Kazan State Technological University Sergey Dyakonov on his 70 jubilee.

According to republican head, Sergey Dyakonov is a person, who was connected all his life with Technological University. He was a student, scientific researcher, later became a rector and headed university for almost 20 years. “And the main thing - within reorganization under its management, the university most quickly productively adapted for new conditions, even there appeared new specialities”, underlined Mintimer Shaimiev. President also confessed that he doubted in necessity of new professions especially in the area of light industry. But the life proved that Sergey Dyakonov was right. “He has all qualities that are necessary in modern science and education. Keep on living and working in such rhythm”, wished Tatarstan President to the hero of the day, awarding him with the medal “For honorary labor” and watch “not to forget President and Kazan Kremlin”.

Sergey Dyakonov thanked the head of the republic for support and attention to Tatarstan Institutes of higher education, especially in difficult times. At the end of the ceremony jubilee guy reminded everybody on phrase of the President: “It is very easy to be smart in easy times. The main task is to be smart in difficult times”.

Later on in the interview with journalists Sergey Dyakonov has pointed out that today all faculties of the University are very competitive. And special entrance due to Tatarstan president is 40 %. “It means that all biggest enterprises of the republic will get high qualified workers. And I am grateful to the fate that I am connected with this”, said the jubilee guy.

Sergey Dyakonov biography is connected with Kazan State Technological University. In 1960 he graduated from Kazan Chemical and technological Institute. Since 1998 he is a rector. In 1996 he was appointed Tatarstan President’s councilor of higher education and science. He is a doctor of technical sciences, the member of Tatarstan Academy of Science, honorary worker of science and technique.

Sergey Dyakonov is awarded by Tatarstan Republic honorary diploma, by medal “For honorary labor. This medal is given for high achievements in the area of state, economic, social and cultural development of RT, for the development of economic and scientific potential of the republic, for active social and charity activity.
