Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev has visited TV Company “Efir” on July 18 and has taken part in the ceremony of launching test digital television broadcasting in the Republic of Tatarstan.
The world of television rapidly switches to “digits”: digital technologies replace old analogue TV-technologies and devices. Taking into account world trend of developing television broadcasting, the Russian Federation also has started work on using digital technologies in TV-broadcasting complex. Decree of RF Government approved digital standard DVB. Government commission under chairmanship of the first Vice-Premier of RF Dmitriy Medvedev has been founded for realization of this project. Tatarstan, as a part of the informational community, takes part in development of this trend. RT Ministry of Informatization and Communication has elaborated “Conception of developing television broadcasting in RT taking into consideration switch to digital technologies for 2007-2015”.
Developing digital TV-broadcasting in the republic, Tatarstan joins the world. Switch to digital TV-broadcasting will allow realization of advanced quality of image and sound. Approximately 70% of population can receive broadcasts of digital television in such countries as Great Britain, Germany and Italy.
The project is of great social importance, because digital television provides an opportunity to send good-quality television signal to the countryside. Equal opportunities for citizens of the countryside and large cities of the republic will be created.
Company Radiotelecom Ltd realizes testing digital television broadcasting in the republic. Launch of the first digital TV-transmitters will provide digital signal in the capital and also Zelenodolsk, Visokogorsky, Verkhne-Uslonsky and Laishevo Districts.
