The 68th season of Tatar Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after M. Jalil closed on July 19. Tatar composer Rezeda Akhiyarova’s opera “Love of the poet” was shown there. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev with his wife and RT Vice-Premier - Minister of Culture Zilya Valeeva were honored guests of the event.

The author of the opera libretto is RT People’s poet, laureate of RF State Award, laureate of RT Tukay’s State Award - Renat Kharis. The opera is dedicated to the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay who left a deep trace in the history of Tatar nation and became a symbol of national culture.

The opera was the first attempt to refuse traditional decorations, especially decoration of the background. Screens were set up on the stage of the theatre; modern projecting equipment helped to recreate atmosphere of Tukay’s epoch. Moscow director Mikhail Panjivadze offered such novelties.

All leading soloists of M.Jalil Theatre were involved in the opera. Soloist of Mariinsky Theatre Ahmed Agadi performed the party of Gabdulla Tukay. Famous Tatar singer Venera Ganieva sang as Zaytuna – the poet’s love. The opera was produced with support of RT Ministry of Culture and RT Union of Composers.

The next theatrical season of Tatar Academic State Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after M.Jalil will open on September 18 with P.Chaikovsky’s opera "Eugeniy Onegin”.
