September 5, CITOGIC-2007-Kazan, 17th International Congress opened in the Korston Complex in Kazan to discuss “New high technologies in gas and petroleum production, energy and communication sectors”. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev attended the opening and plenary session of the congress.
The annual forum is supported by the Russian President and the Russian Government and dedicated to implementation of large national socially-targeted petroleum and gas and energy projects of the 21st century. This congress is particularly focused on utilization of accompanying gas and preparation of extra-heavy crude oil during the development of oil deposits, elaboration and implementation of twofold purpose environmentally friendly technologies, attraction of long-tem investments, qualification upgrading of process engineers engaged in key branches of economy. Among the organizers of the congress are OAO Gazprom, the Tatarstan Government, the RF Academy of Technological Sciences.
Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev read Russian President Vladimir Putin’s greeting to the participants of the forum. The Russian President marks in particular that the congress plays an outstanding role in creating a favourable investment environment in the country.
President Shaimiev talked about issues of Tatarstan’s transition to an innovation approach of economic development. In that regard he expressed his hope that recommendations worked out by the congress would be demanded in the republic.
Tatarstan Prime-Minister Rustam Minnikhanov and Gazprom Deputy Chairman of the Board Aleksander Ananenkov signed a cooperation agreement between the RT Government and Gazprom on gasification of the republic.
