Mintimer Shaimiev: tension at the republican food market today has generally defused

At the RT State Council session on October 18, President Shaimiev announced measures taken by the republican government regarding the increase of food prices.
Tatarstan’s head noted that his speech at the session of the republican parliament was also connected to the discussion of 2008 budget and forecast of social and economic development in the republic for next 3 years. “We have to find answers to burning questions of our people. And it is to be included in next year’s budget”, Mintimer Shaimiev emphasized. He said that the main cause of food prices increase was due to grain crop shortages in a range of countries.
Assessing the current situation on the foodstuff market of the republic and the results of measures taken to reduce expenses of Tatarstan people, Mintimer Shaimiev said: “As of today, I can say that tension has generally defused”.
