Mintimer Shaimiev: Continuity of the chosen course will ensure further development of Russia

October 20, Mintimer Shaimiev, the President of Tatarstan – Co-chairman of the Higher Council of the United Russia party, took part in the Republican forum of the party’s supporters.

More than 600 representatives of republican social and youth organisations, business community, cultural activists and researchers attended the forum.

After the speeches by supporters of United Russia, Mintimer Shaimiev took the floor greeting the gathering. On behalf of the party’s leadership he wished the party activists good luck in their uneasy electoral work.

The head of the republic called the oncoming elections to RF State Duma deputies and presidential elections the determining events in the life of the country and Russian society. Talking about the landmark changes of recent years, Mintimer Shaimiev marked that it was thanks to Vladimir Putin’s role as the national leader and the United Russia party that had become a reliable support in transforming the country, our country managed to come out of the deepest crisis.

Nobody believed that Russia would stand up firmly on its feet, Mintimer Shaimiev said. He also said that timely repay of foreign debts by Russia enabled it to claim its independence and sovereignty, become independent from external forces. “Russia cannot be weak. We are destined to be strong. The country is taking the path of creation and to follow it we have to continue the course we have developed during recent years. We do not have right to stop or waste time. We must not relax for an jota”.
