Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with students of the republic within the framework of the session of V RT Student Congress in Kazan.

“Our country’s fate is in your hands. We were in hard crises. And now is the time to create”, the head of Tatarstan has said. According to him, the years of perestroika were very difficult for the teaching staff of the Universities. “After reforms the Institutes of higher Education were very weak. They had huge moral and psychological problems”, he has pointed out.
According to Mintimer Shaimiev, today situation requires serious reforms in educational system. “It is conservative. If we don’t pass reforms, we will be in dead end, - he has expressed his opinion. – I consider that we might do reforms in Tatarstan faster. We have to create educational clusters”. Main priority for modern students should be purposeful study. And they have to choose priorities at schools. Mintimer Shaimiev pointed out that young people in Tatarstan are seriously required to finish full secondary school. “Only after full secondary school they will be able to enter the colleges”, he has warned.

“The country, which came out the crises needs intellectual staff”, the head of the republic underlined. “Students today cannot be apolitical and passive in social life. You are free. We hope that our students will be more active”, Mintimer Shaimiev underlined.
