Mintimer Shaimiev told journalist about the outcome of United Russia’s Congress

December 17, after the 8th Congress of the United Russia party Mintimer Shaimiev, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Co-Chairman of the Higher Council of United Russia, told journalists about the outcome of the Congress.
“Two weeks passed after the elections. I would like to note that the United Russia party has got off to a very impressive start this time. Today, we put up Dmitri Medvedev as our presidential candidate. I believe that it should become a good tradition – the winning party should nominate its candidate to become the President of the Russian Federation”.
The President of Tatarstan also said that he did not doubt that after the coming elections the course of the country heading for success would be supported by the majority of Russians, and the choice would be made in the interests of the entire multinational state.
