Mintimer Shaimiev: good works in Tatarstan to go on

The meeting of the republican Council for charitable activities chaired by Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took place on December 26 in the Representation Building at the Kazan Kremlin.
State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, First Deputy Prime-minister Ravil Muratov, heads of Tatarstan ministries and agencies, large industrial companies, religious leaders, benefactors and sponsors attended the meeting.
“We can regard the year of 2007 as a successful year for the republic and its people in all respects. It is gratifying that the Year of Literature and Art in Tatarstan helped us gain some experience; therefore we acted in a more task-oriented and organised manner. I would like to thank the people of Tatarstan who took up the call to help those in need of support”, marked the head of the republic.
Mintimer Shaimiev believes that the results of the Year of Charity show the state of the soul and moral principles. “Our people have always been sympathetic. The most important is not the financial opportunities but the desire, impulse to help”, the President said.
“Let us think that the Year of Charity is just the beginning of what is still to be done. 2008 is the Year of the Family in Russia. The good works will be continued”, the Tatarstan President underlined.
