Tatarstan President congratulated Rashid Sunayev on receiving Crafoord Prize 2008

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, congratulated Rashid Sunayev, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of honour of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, senior staff scientist of the Institute of space research and head of the largest Russian school for high-energy astrophysics, who was awarded Crafoord Prize 2008.
One of the most prestigious science prizes in the world, the Crafoord Prize was awarded to the outstanding researcher by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for his for his decisive contributions to high energy astrophysics and cosmology, in particular processes and dynamics around black holes and neutron stars and demonstration of the diagnostic power of structures in the background radiation.
“It is a proper assessment of your tireless fruitful scientific work and worldwide acknowledgement of your considerable contribution to the development of astrophysics and cosmology. I am sincerely glad for you and have no doubt that the high appraisal will inspire you to make new big achievements and discoveries. I wish you good health and inexhaustible energy for further multi-faceted work to the glory of domestic science”, the telegram of the head of the republic reads.
