Mintimer Shaimiev met with Deputy Director of the Federal Service for narcotics traffic control

January 23, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with Colonel General Aleksander Fedorov, the Secretary of State – Deputy Director of the Russian Federal Service for narcotics traffic control at the Kazan Kremlin.
Before the meeting Aleksander Fedorov took part in the meeting of the board of the Office of the RF Federal Service for narcotics traffic control in the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the meeting at the Kazan Kremlin, Mintimer Shaimiev marked the achievements of the Federal Service in recent years. Aleksander Fedorov said that they discussed vital issues of narcotics spread prevention and methods to tackle its spread. He also said that it was suggested that representatives of two major religions in the republic – Islam and Orthodox Christianity – could participate in antinarcotics propaganda.
After the meeting Aleksander Fedorov told journalists that “narcotics is an evil that cannot be defeated overnight. “Law-enforcing measures alone will not do. A set of measures is to be applied. All law-enforcing bodies should be engaged rather than narcotics control, bodies alone”, he said.
