Mintimer Shaimiev meets with Tatarstan state grantees

January 25, a traditional meeting of Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev with grantees of the state award of the Republic of Tatarstan has been held in the Kazan Kremlin on the occasion of the Day of Russian Students.

20 graduate students and 45 undergraduate students of higher education institutions, and also 10 secondary school students have received special state grants this year.

“Remembrances about student years and friends follow a person during all his life,” Mintimer Shaimiev emphasized addressing grantees, ”It is a wonderful time.” He reminded that the meeting in Kazan Kremlin is the fourth already. “The country started the way of democratic development, opportunities of self-realization of a person have been created,” the head of the republic said. “Unfortunately, not all young people are forehanded. Due to your activity and efforts, you managed to learn the fields of science more deeply. I have no doubt it will be so in the future.”

According to M.Shaimiev’s words, the Tatarstan’s economy suffers from large deficit of highly qualified staff. “Our society is well-educated; the educational system structure is well-established; it’s a pity we are not very competitive. It is the problem of today. We count on you,” Tatarstan President underlined. He congratulated grantees and all students of the republic on Tatyana’s day – the traditional Day of Russian Students and thanked teachers and lecturers of higher education institutions and schools.

During the meeting laureates of the Republican Award named after M.Jalil were rewarded. They are: troupe of Naberezhniye Chelny State Tatar Drama Theatre, the project of the open republican television youth festival of pop-art “Constellation-Yoldizlik”, the artist Bulat Gilvanov, writers Gazinur Murat and Lyabib Leron.
