The meeting of the Council of the heads of the municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan chaired by RT President Mintimer Shaimiev was held in the Kazan Kremlin on February 6. The main point on the agenda was policy in the sphere of salaries and wages. RT Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, RT State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, RT First deputy prime-minister Ravil Muratov, heads of municipal districts, ministries, departments and large enterprises of the republic attended the meeting.
Opening the meeting, Mintimer Shaimiev reminded that in the Address to the RT State Council, which he made on January 31, it was marked that success had been achieved in the issue in question and priorities had been set up for next year.
In particular it was noted in the Address that in 2007 real wages in the republic grew by 17.8 percent (while the Russian average made 16 percent) and made 11,334 rubles. It resulted in a rise of the purchase power of the population. In these terms Tatarstan ranks first among the regions of the Volga Federal District, the reason being the cheapest basket of goods in Tatarstan.
The necessity to keep raising salaries of employees of the government-financed organizations still remains a priority. In his Address the RT President reminded "that last year we had set the task to bring salaries in the government-financed organizations to 80 percent of the republican average.
After the President, RT First deputy prime-minister Ravil Muratov took the floor.
