RT President took part in the meeting of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Protection

The expanded meeting of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan was opened on February 13 at the RT Academy of Sciences. The participants are to speak about the results of 2007 and the tasks for 2008. President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev is attending the meeting.

In the presidium of the assembly hall of the RT Academy of Sciences next to the head of the republic sat RT Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Federal labour and employment service Maksim Topilin, Deputy chairman of the RT State Council Rimma Ratnikova and Minister of labour, employment and social protection Airat Shafigullin.
Finishing the meeting, Mintimer Shaimiev noted that the Ministry of labour, employment and social protection, is "undoubtedly one of the most important ministries, institutions that take care of both working and retired people. It is the social institution the importance of which cannot be overestimated, all the more so in conditions of a transition period when we move up from the guaranteed social security in conditions of market economy to new forms of social security".
Mintimer Shaimiev reminded that in the Address to the RT State Council Tatarstan was described as a republic of intensive development. The gross regional product and industrial output in 2007 exceeded 740 billion rubles. In normal conditions the republic should achieve a volume of 800 billion rubles and more. "If we maintain the development rate at the same level, gross regional product can reach 1 billion rubles, the head of Tatarstan emphasized. Therefore the issue of labour efficiency becomes a first priority task."

Finishing his speech, Mintimer Shaimiev briefly set up tasks of the Ministry of labour, employment and social protection: "Proper conditions are to be created for employees, and we should be attentive and provide support to those who are unable to work and unprotected. We can do that."
