The press conference of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, dedicated to the outcome of the Russian presidential election, was held in the Kazan Kremlin on March 3.
The head of the republic started the meeting reminding the journalists that tomorrow the RT Central Election Commission would sum up the results of the poll. Today, he said, he “wanted to emphasize some things from a political point of view.”
The president marked that Tatarstan’s mass media actively highlighted the election process and preparation for it. He thanked the journalists for their work during the two election campaigns and also marked that the republican authorities had created good conditions for conducting the election.
Mintimer Shaimiev also said that the law-enforcement bodies of the republic also had done a lot. “Yesterday saw no minor offences registered; that is very good that nobody ruined anybody’s mood”, he underlined.
He went on to say that Dmitri Medvedev already proclaimed that the course of the foreign and domestic policy Vladimir Putin adhered to would be continued. “He and Vladimir Putin know what we have to work on. I think in the nearest years Russia’s policy will be predictable.”
