Solemn ceremony dedicated to completion of a tunnel between “Kozya Sloboda” and “Kremlevskaya” subway stations has been held today ay the walls of Kazan Kremlin. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev has participated in the ceremony.
At the ceremony Director General of MUP Kazmetrostroi Marat Rakhimov said that “completion of the tunnel is the most great event in life of a subway constructor.”
The head of the republic said: “Working underground in subway is difficult; it requires skill and qualification. Subway constructors are elite among constructors. Thank you for your work. Kazan must receive as many stations as it needs.”
The President expressed his confidence in the fact that increase of the subway length will reduce burden of city roads and provide the subway financially. “Prime cost of a subway ticket is almost 40 rubles; the real cost is 10 rubles. The more stations we construct, the more passengers will use the subway. By the way, 25 thousand people use subway at present; it is a good index.”
“Importance of Kazan subway doesn’t need to be proved,” the head of the republic summed up. “We set a task to come to an agreement with the federal centre about equal footing financing of construction works. It would speed up the whole process.”
