V.Putin congratulates M.Shaimiev with Kazan winning right to host 2013 Universiade

Head of the government of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev on occasion of Kazan, the capital of the Republic, winning the right to host 2013 World Summer Universiade.

"Dear Mintimer Sharipovich!

I am glad to learn that Kazan was chosen as a capital fo 2013 World Summer Universiade. Please accept my sincere congratulations. This victory can be viewed as a sign of International community accepting achievements of the Russian athletes and our contry’s significant contribution into International sports.

I am certain that Universiade will be held on the highest possible level, becoming a special event in the life of Kazan, Tatarstan and all of Russia. Most importantly – it will give a strong impulse to further growth of the Republic’s sports infrastructure, strengthen International relations of humanitarian purpose, once more stressing the importance of healthy life-styles values for the future of our society.
