June 16, Colonel General Vasily Smirnov, the Chief of the Main organizational-mobilization directorate - deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed forces of the Russian Federation, presented the President of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, with a challenge pennant of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "To the Winner of the competition among the subjects of the Russian Federation for the best preparation of citizens of the Russian Federation for military service, organizing and carrying our conscription ".
The ceremony took place in the representation building of the Kazan Kremlin.
