Mintimer Shaimiev: ‘The right to host the Universiade-2013 is a historical achievement’

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev called the victory in the bid for hosting the World student games of 2013 a historical achievement.

“I have no doubt that after the Games of 2013 Tatarstan capital will become much better,” Mintimer Shaimiev said at the ceremony of handing over state awards of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan. The ceremony has been held today in Kazan Kremlin.

According to words of the President, good road junctions and sport facilities need to be constructed; the International Airport Kazan needs reconstruction; and the present look of the city need to be preserved. “It will be done,” Tatarstan President assured.

“Our task is to finish the Universiade-2013 in the conditions attractive for organization of any international competitions in summer sports,” Mintimer Shaimiev said.
