July 25, President of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, visited the Kamsko-Ustinsky municipal region of the republic of Tatarstan.
The purpose of the working trip of the head of the republic to the region was to visit the Kamsko-Ustynsky gypsum mine.
According to the RT President, the Kamsko-Ustynsky mine extracts high-quality gypsum which could be used for both construction and medicine. Gypsum reserves at the aforementioned location are practically inexhaustible. “Nonetheless, it is necessary to modernize technology used in the mine to process gypsum,” highlighted Mintimer Shaimiev. He considers that too great of a volume of the raw material is taken out of the republic, for there is a great cost difference between the processed material and the raw material. The added value must remain in Tatarstan.
According to the director of JSC “Kamsko-Ustynsky Gypsum Mine”, Albert Akhmetshin, a gypsum processing plant is planned to be constructed close to the mine. The plant must be equipped with the most modern equipment and opened within the next two years.
