Tatarstan President has had a telephone conversation with Turkish President

September 15, 2008, on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Turkey the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev, had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul.

In the course of an exchange of views, the interlocutors marked with satisfaction that the all-sided cooperation between Turkey and Tatarstan continues to develop. They also mentioned positive development of relationship in the scientific-research and cultural spheres as well as in the construction field. The presidents are satisfied with a growth in foreign trade turnover which made more than $1.5 billion over the first half of the year.

The President of Tatarstan marked the constructive attitude of the Turkish leadership to issues related to providing stability in the Caucasus.

Mintimer Shaimiev invited the President of Turkey to visit Tatarstan as part of his visit to Russia this autumn. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
