Tatarstan President is taking part in the meeting of the Presidium of the State Council and the Presidential Council

October 14, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev delivered a speech at a joint meeting of the Presidential Council on development of physical culture and sport, sport of higher achievements, preparation and holding the 22nd Winter Olympic Games and the 11th Winter Paralympic Games 2014 in Sochi and the Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation.

The meeting "On measures of further development of physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation" that takes place in Odintsovo near Moscow is conducted by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

In his speech, Mintimer Shaimiev marked that the given issue had already been discussed at the meeting of the State Council in 2002. "It was a good impetus to forming new approaches in sport development, - Mintimer Shaimiev declared. - We should build our work having analysed the present state of affairs scrupulously. The Beijing Olympics have revealed serious shortcomings, especially in the sport of higher achievements."
