Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev proposes to introduce legislative norms that allow for national peculiarities in education as well as to ensure participation in formation of educational policy of subjects of the Russian Federation guaranteed by the Russian Constitution.
The statement was made on November 18 at the meeting dedicated to the preservation of the national-regional component in the new educational standard that was held in Kazan. RF Education and Science Minister Andrey Fursenko, Chairman of the Committee on Education of the RF State Duma of the Russian Federation Grigory Balykhin, Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on affairs of nationalities Valentin Kuptsov, representatives of the Federal Assembly of almost all national republics of Russia took part in the discussion.
The head of the republic welcomed the participants of the meeting to the capital of the multinational Tatarstan. "We have been waiting for this meeting a lot. The topic of the meeting is extremely important for the future of the Russian Federation, - Mintimer Shaimiev noted. - We are grateful to Andrey Fursenko and all representatives of the republics who responded to the initiative of carrying out this meeting in Kazan with understanding".
The head of Tatarstan believes that ensuring available and affordable quality education is of huge importance irrespective of nationality, social and property status, territorial or other distinctions." The important role that learning the mother tongue and culture plays is evident. It is the factor of preservation of national-cultural identity of the peoples of the Russian Federation. It significantly involves interests of safety and stability of our multinational state," Mintimer Shaimiev said.
