27 March 2009, Friday
On March 27, a ceremony of opening the library of the Oxford Russian Foundation was held in the reading room of the Lobachevsky Scientific Library.

In summer 2008, Kazan State University (KSU) signed a cooperation agreement with charitable Oxford Russia Foundation. As Olga Pavlova, coordinator of the Foundation programmes in KSU, said, the Oxford Russian Foundation programme incorporated 20 high schools of Russia including KSU. According to O. Pavlova, the Lobachevsky Library boasts almost 2500 books in English on open access.

She also described the scholarship programme of the Foundation. Last year, 125 students of the Kazan State University became winners of the Oxford grant competition (the grants are paid monthly within an academic year). "Now there is a second line,” said O. Pavlova. “This year the amount of a grant rose from 3,000 to 3,250 roubles a month."
