5 March 2009, Thursday
The international conference entitled Competition Stimulation Policies in Contemporary Developing Economies will in September be held in Kazan, said the Russian antimonopoly service’s chief Igor Artemiev, speaking to a staff meeting.

The meeting was on 3 March held in Moscow, with attendees representatives from the President of Russia Executive Office, State Duma, Federation Council, Prosecutor’s Office, Interior Ministry and businesses.

The issue of holding the BRIC conference in Kazan (Brazil, Russia, India, China) was discussed on 20 February at a meeting between the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roustam Minnikhanov and the FAS deputy chief Andrey Tsarikovsky. The local government displayed willingness to assist in holding the conference that is expected to assemble antimonopoly agencies from across the world.

The Russian Antimonopoly Service said today that it would organise the conference in September. The service’s Tatarstan division will render assistance and support in the holding of the conference.

BRIC is an abbreviation for a group of states that are to be the major contributors to the world's future economic growth, particularly of stock markets. The states's favourable position is accounted for by the availability of valuable resources: agriculture produce (Brazil), mineral wealth (Russia), cheap intellectual resources (India) and cheap workforce (China).
