12 Tatarstan hockey players become Universiade-2009 champions

The World Winter Universiade Competitions in ice hockey among men finished on February 28 in Harbin, China. Russian team wrested the victory from Canadians in the final with the score 4:2.

One of the victory goals belongs to Pyotr Khohryakov from Neftyanik (Leninogorsk town). Other sportsmen to score were Marat Valiullin, Denis Fakhrutdinov and Konstantin Kulikov.

Russia ice hockey team of students is made up of the Republic of Tatarstan clubs’ players – Ak Bars (Kazan), Neftyanik (Almetyevsk) and Neftyanik (Leninogorsk).

Bronze medal went to Slovakians who defeated Kazakhstan – 5:4, ‘Ves Sport’ reports.

Russian champions of the Universiade-2209 are to return to Kazan today by ‘Tatarstan’ train.
