Tatarstan has cheapest minimal food basket

The cost of a minimal food set above the poverty line in Russia in April 2009 increased 0.4 percent, totalling by the end of the month 2,213 roubles per capita a month, reports the Federal State Statistics Service.

The costliest food baskets in the Russian regions are said to be ones in the Chukotka (6,207 roubles), Magadan (3,792 roubles), Kamchatka (3,784 roubles), Sakhalin (3,670 roubles) and Yakutia (3,522 roubles).

The cheapest food baskets are in Tatarstan (1,818 roubles), the Ulianovsk region (1,835 roubles), Udmurtia (1,865 roubles), the Orenburg region (1,872 roubles) and the Chuvash region (1,886 roubles).
