Reception in honour of the 64th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War has taken place at the Kazan Kremlin

The reception hosted by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan marking the 64th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War was held in the Coat of Arms Hall at the Kazan Kremlin on May 7.

A dramatized show involving soldiers sitting during a halt next to their cannons was prepared at the Kazan Kremlin. The veterans of the great Patriotic War were welcomed by a brass band playing wartime melodies. Then, the head of the republic and the veterans followed to the Coat of Arms Hall for the reception and the concert.

Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated the veterans and presented Medals for strengthening fighting fraternity to Heroes of the Soviet Union Sabir Akhtyamov and Boris Kuznetsov, Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Rifkat Gainullin and Chairman of the Republican War and Military Service Veteran Committee Akhat Yulashev.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland.
