Tatarstan President met with the UK ambassador

April 29, Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with Extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to the Russian Federation Ms. Anne Pringle.

Issues discussed in the meeting included political and social-economic situation in the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as prospects for furthering Tatarstan-British cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by the second secretary of trade and industry of the UK embassy to the Russian Federation Mr.Mark McCrory, state advisor to the Republic of Tatarstan President on international issues – director of the foreign affairs department Mr.Timur Akulov, RT minister for trade and industry Mr.Ravil Zaripov, RT minister of education and science Mr.Albert Guilmutdinov, Kazan mayor Mr.Ilsur Metshin.

Anne Pringle arrived Tatarstan the night before, on April 28. In the morning of April 29 the ambassador of UK to RF visited JSC «ICL-KPO VS», Innovative industry technopark «Idea». At the RT Ministry of trade and industry the high British diplomat was presented industrial potential of the republic, and met with the RT minister of trade and industry Mr.Ravil Zaripov. For the second part of the day, Mrs.Pringle is expected to visit Kazan State University, attending the meeting with students and professors.

Anne Pringle was born in Scotland in 1955, graduated from St.Andrew's university with a specialization in Roman and German philology, in diplomatic corps since 1977. She served in different positions of the UK Foreign Office, including the UK diplomatic representative offices in Moscow, San-Francisco, European Union, Czech Republic. In the position of the UK ambassador to the Russian Federation since October 2008. She passed the letter of credence to the RF President Dmitry Medvedev on January 17, 2009.
