Mintimer Shaimiev has met with participants of 6th meeting of ministers of culture of SCO member and observer states

April 27, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with participants of the 6th Meeting of ministers of culture of the Shanghai organization of cooperation member and observer states (SCO).

Present at the meeting from the SCO’s side were the SCO Secretary General, Minister of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, Minister of Culture and Information of the Kyrgyz Republic, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tadzhikistan, Vice-Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan. From the side of the SCO observer states present were Minister of Culture and Islamic Orientation of the of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Russia, Vice-Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Republic of India, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia. The Republic of Tatarstan was presented by Deputy Prime-minister – Minister of culture Zilya Valeyeva and State Adviser to the President on international issues – Director of the Department of foreign affairs Timur Akulov.

The participants of the meeting arrived in Kazan on April 26th and attended the events celebrating the 123rd anniversary of the Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai. Later on, they met with Tatarstan’s creative young people.
