Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated Rashid Syunyaev on receiving King Faisal Award

January 30, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated an academician of Russian Academy of Science and Honored Member of Tatarstan Academy of Science, chief scientific associate of the Institute of Space Research and head of the largest Russian scientific school on problems of astrophysics of high energies, Rashid Syunyaev on receiving the international scientific prize - King Faisal Award.

The telegram reads: “On behalf of Tatarstan people and myself personally, accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of bestowing you with the international King Faisal Award. It is a one more evidence of your outstanding contribution to development of world science, a worthy award for your tireless scientific research. We are proud of you – the talented representative of Tatar nation. We are glad that you are full of creative energy for further inspired work for the good of the human civilization. With all heart we wish you health and pep, new scientific victories and interesting discoveries in learning the Universe”.

One of the most prestigious world awards – the International King Faisal Award was founded in Saudi Arabia for development of science, education and realization of charity programs – was given to the scientist involved in research of the Universe’s ionizing radioactive background “for pioneering and fundamental contribution to astrophysics,” the fund’s message states.

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev was the first representative of Russia to receive the International King Faisal Award 2007.
