Mintimer Shaimiev met with RT special state fellowship winners and young scientists – recipients of government grants

January 24, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev met in Kazan Kremlin with RT special state fellowship recipients, winners of state grants and award competition for state support of young scientists researches and youth scientific organizations of the Republic of Tatarstan, RT government grant recipients for training and retraining in Russian and foreign scientific and educational establishments.

The meeting was attended by representatives of RT State Council, Presidential Administration, Cabinet of Ministers, various ministries and departments, heads of municipalities, university rectors and directors of vocational schools, heads of military schools, representatives of youth organizations and mass media.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Ravil Muratov, deputy Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Rimma Ratnikova, representatives of ministries and departments, heads of municipal formations, rectors of colleges and universities, representatives of youth organizations and mass media attended the meeting.

In all, 85 people became grant holders of the special state scholarship of the Republic of Tatarstan. 32 projects received grants of Tatarstan Government.

"We hold a traditional meeting with talented undergraduate and graduate student on the threshold of the Day of Russian Students. From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you on this holiday," Mintimer Shaimiev addressed grantees.

"It is a pleasure that talented and successful young people have gathered here. You achieved amazing success thanks to parents, enormous work of your teachers, thanks to your efforts. I congratulate and thank you. Stay on course, good luck!" - Tatarstan President wished to talented students.

At the meeting, Mintimer Shaimiev conducted serious analysis of the processes taking place in the world, country and republic. According to his words, Tatarstan rapidly developed in the past years. The republican capital was changing for the better, cities, district centers, villages, roads look different.

Now the world financial and banking crisis broke out. "The countries which are integrated in the world economy suffer from the crisis more. Oil price, demand for petrochemical and machine-building production make an impact on Russia and Tatarstan economy. The government makes all efforts to prevent the transformation of a financial crisis into a social crisis.

"Talented undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students need to be supported. State authorities, the government, universities will assistance to your success," the head of the republic stated.

A video film presenting Tatarstan as a sport center of European level was shown at the meeting. KAMAZ-Master team made a wonderful present to the republic in 2009 - the Year of Sport and Healthy Lifestyle. FC Rubin won the 1st place in Russian championship and will play versus the strongest clubs of Europe. Kazan won the bid for hosting the Universiade-2013.

"The Universiade is a great opportunity for students to make themselves known," Mintimer Shaimiev said.

At the meeting he also discussed measures on supporting talented students with rectors of colleges and universities.
