Mintimer Shaimiev visited the biggest mosque of Kuwait the Al-Jami Al-Kubra

April 4, during visit to capital of the State Kuwait President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and members of official delegation of republic visited the biggest mosque of Emirates Al-Jami Al-Kubra.
In Al Kuwait there are more than 600 mosques. Construction of Al-Jami Al-Kubra (the Big mosque) started at the end of 1979. Cost of the project made approximately 50 million dollars. Official opening of the mosque designed for 5,5 thousand believers took place in June, 1986 It is a masterpiece of cult architecture. A traditional dome of the mosque in height is almost 50 meters standing out over praying hall of the cubic form. The interior of a temple is decorated with mosaic, Arabian ornaments, sayings from the Quran. Height of the minaret -72 meters. Near to the mosque gardens with various colors, plants and palm trees, fountains and falls were built.
Entering the mosque, Mintimer Shaimiev and Minister of Justice accompanying him, Minister of waqfs and on affairs of Islam of Kuwait Abdulla Maatuk Al-Maatuk met in the center of praying hall a small group of children at this time they were passing a lesson on principles of Moslem doctrine. Honoured guests sat down near to children and photographed for memory.
Then in one of halls for rest President to Tatarstan and members of delegation were shown a short film devoted to a history of the mosque. As it was found out, in the Al-Jami Al-Kubra there is a library where Islamic directories are kept, documents, the literature to which scientists and students have access. There are also two halls of history where lectures and seminars are held. The mosque is equipped with five story parking place, capable to hold over 500 motors.
The delegation of Tatarstan visited also the unique Centre of science with cinema IMAX and one of the biggest aquariums in the Near East.
First «Hall of discoveries» - a specific park of attractions with which help the Kuwaiti schoolboys in the accessible form are learning bases of mechanics, aerodynamics, electricity, principles of various chemical processes. Here, operating mini-models of oil tankers, capable "to deliver" "oil" to a port of one of the countries of Persian gulf are presented even it is possible to become for some time TV news anchor of local TV channel, in practice to understand various systems of mechanical blocks.
In the Centre of science it is possible to familiarize also with representatives of fauna of Near-Eastern region, falcons, bats, deserted cats, hedgehogs, scorpions, otters, peacocks, alligators .
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.
On 28 August the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev took part in a plenary session of the National Assembly of the World Tatar Congress held with participation of about 1 thousand delegates from 68 regions of Russia and 27 foreign countries in the Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan’
On 20 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev attended horse races held at the International Equestrian Complex in Kazan and dedicated to Kazan Sabantuy.
On 6 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers to the monument of the Great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin by the Jalil State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
