“KAMAZ” assembly plant to be constructed in Syria

On March 31, President of Tatarstan within the framework working trip to Syria visited “Kamaz” service centre located 20 km from Damascus. Head of the republic was accompanied by State Minister of SAR Bashar Shaar, State Advisor to RT President on International Affairs – Director of Department of Foreign Affairs Timur Akulov, RT Minister of trade and foreign economic cooperation Hafiz Salikhov.

President acquainted with the centre in details and spoke to the staff, many of which are from Tatarstan. Then the delegation visited “Tatneft” representation in Damascus. In 2005 Parliament of the Syrian Arab Republic ratified agreement on oil deposit No.27 to be developed by the Tatarstan oil company. The project is planned to pay off in 3 years term. There will be an industrial company established, 50% of shares to be owned by Syria and 50% by Tatarstan. Presumable efficiency of the project is about 90%.
