Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in the first session of strategic vision group «Russia - the Islamic world»

Today the group of strategic vision «Russia - the Islamic world» has gathered for the first time in Moscow. President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in a meeting.

We remind, the strategic vision group «Russia - the Islamic world» - an advisory body aimed at searching the forms of co-operation between Russia and the Islamic countries in all fields of a life. About 20 Muslim countries, including, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, Indonesia, Malaysia and of some other states have arrived in Moscow.

As federal mass-media inform the session is being conducted by chief of RF Commercial and industrial chamber Evgeni Primakov. He read out the appeal from President of Russia Vladimir Putin to participants of the first session. «I am convinced, threat of the international terrorism and distribution of the weapon of mass destruction, attempt to provoke inter-civilization conflict demand from the international community closer interaction. Only having united the efforts we can give the adequate and effective answer to these challenges», - is marked in the text of the appeal to the heads of states. - Our country had developed old traditions of good and constructive relations with Muslim states. Russia supported most of them on their way to independence, promoted in strengthening their national economy».
It is planned that the second part of conference devoted to the subject «Steps on counteraction to extremism and intolerance», is to be chaired by President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.
