Priority task facing heads of municipal formations of republic is raising life quality of Tatarstaners, Mintimer Shaimiev considers

A predominant task before the heads of 999 municipal formations of the republic is improvement of life quality of people living in their territories. This was declared today by President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev when speaking at the I congress of Council of RT municipal formations.

In the work of congress took part RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin, chief of RT President Administration Yury Kamaltynov, members of Federation Council and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, deputies of RT State Council, heads of the ministries and departments of republic, head of municipal formation Kazan Ilsur Metshin, delegates of 952 municipal formations of Tatarstan, etc.

«Today you are plenipotentiary representatives of our voters», - with such words President of Tatarstan welcomed the delegates of the I congress of Council of municipal formations. As he said, elections on October 16, 2005 were unprecedented in a history of Tatarstan events, both on scale, and importance, being a good sign of real democracy birth. Mintimer Shaimiev noted also high enough turnout of voters in past municipal elections. «We had the highest turnout across Russia - 62,6 percent», - the head of republic marked.

Speaking about inception of local self- government in our country, the head of republic expressed opinion, that Tatarstan has come to implementing MF reform «not later but in time». He reminded of a failure of the previous attempts of originating democracy in Russia. «We have managed to be prepared and start in full», - RT President emphasized.

In his welcome speech Mintimer Shaimiev reminded also of the scale events marked last year in republic - 1000-anniversary of Kazan and 60-anniversary of the Great Victory. Addressing to the heads of municipal formations of Tatarstan, M.Shaimiev called to take care of participants of the Great Patriotic war. He emphasized, that today a priority task faced by heads of municipal formations is improvement of life quality of Tatarstaners. As he said, today the point should be not simply about economy growth but about effective growth of economy of Tatarstan. “Times of breakthrough have come , times of opportunities, - M.Shaimiev stressed. - we should activate all Tatarstaners. Out of poor people no rich Tatarstan appears”.
