Mintimer Shaimiev will take part in opening exhibition "MIPIM-2006" in Cannes

Today the second day has began of official visit of Tatarstan delegation led by President Mintimer Shaimiev to Cannes.

Today RT President takes part in work of the XVII International exhibition - fair of the commercial real estate "MIPIM-2006" opening in the Palace of festivals and congresses in the city of Cannes (France).

We remind, that the representative delegation of republic arrived in Cannes on the eve in the evening. It is planned, that today in the morning the delegation of republic will join the work of the Russian delegation as a whole. We remind, that Russia is represented by about 45 delegations from subjects of the Russian Federation at "MIPIM-2006". Minister of economic development and trade of the Russian Federation Herman Gref heads the Russian delegation.

In the morning Mintimer Shaimiev is going familiarize with the stand «the Russian regions», visit the stand of Moscow oblast and Krasnodar territory. Besides Tatarstan delegation will familiarize with expositions of Ekaterinburg, Lipetsk, Ulyanovsk and Penza oblasts , Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Vladivostok and other cities and regions. In the first part of the day participation of RT President in talk - show of NTV company : “Investments in Russia: the new markets - new opportunities" is planned to be held at the Palace of festivals and congresses.

Presentation of the stand of Republic Tatarstan and investment projects of the republic will take place in the second half of day.

The exposition of Tatarstan occupies 142 sq. meters of. The republic presents 38 investment projects. Among them - projects on subjects: ”Housing quarters and complexes", "Shopping centers", "Hotel business", "Sports and cultural - entertaining complexes", "Projects of a transport infrastructures”, technoparks and many others. In particular, the State available housing under RT President presents the project "Social mortgage in Republic Tatarstan”. The special attention will be given to presentation of a special economic zone of industrial and production type in territory of Elabuga region and constructing objects of infrastructure in Elabuga .

Then in the program of stay of Tatarstan delegation in Cannes participation in conference “Investments in real estate of Russia: regions on rise" is planned. The event to be joined by President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Minister of economic development and trade of the Russian Federation Herman Gref, Governor of Nizhniy Novgorod oblast Valery Shantsev, Governor of Perm territory Oleg Chirkunov, Governor of Kalingrad oblast Georgy Boos, and foreign investors, representatives of banks, international developer companies.

Tatarstan participates In "MIPIM-2006" for the first time. Our republic causes high interest of foreign investors as it is one of most investment attractive regions of Russia. Tatarstan takes the tenth place among regions Russian Federations by volume of the attracted foreign investments. The republic is in the lead in the list of regions of the Volga Federal District by volume of direct foreign investments involved in 2005: Tatarstan takes 19,8 percent of all capital investments. In total amount of the foreign investments arrived in 2005 in VFD , on a share of Tatarstan falls 28,1 percent. According to the RT Ministry of Trade and external economic cooperation , total amount of foreign investments in republic - 843,6 million dollars, including, direct investments - more than 214 million dollars. In 2005 foreign investments from 9 countries; the Great Britain, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Turkey, the USA arrived in the economy of Tatarstan .
