Mintimer Shaimiev: “Future of “United Russia” party is centre-right”

On March 9, President of Republic Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev met with leaders of local branches and the core group of “United Russia” political party of Kirov oblast within the framework of events dedicated to Days of Republic Tatarstan in Kirov oblast. Governor of the oblast Nikolai Shaklein took part in the meeting.

Greeting “United Russia” members of Kirov, Vyatsky Polyany, Malmyzh, Kilmez and Urzhum regions, Mintimer Shaimiev noted that residents of the oblast had always been good neighbours of Tatarstan. He spoke about the role of “United Russia” in modern political situation of the country, having noted the topicality of the present theme beforehand the elections to the Legislative Assembly, March 12. “This is your time of political activity, and it certainly gains special significance, as we all live in new society”, - underlined head of Tatarstan.

President of Tatarstan said that when reforms are on the way in the country, party “United Russia” cannot remain purely centrist. “I stick with the beliefs that the future of “United Russia” party is centre-right, though the rightist ideology cannot always be exercised. I am sure that after some time we will have to apply the pragmatic part of the rightist idea”, emphasized Mintimer Shaimiev. Head of the republic also said that “United Russia” is the real party, which so far, at this stage of our evolution should not give up power for a long time”. According to President of Tatarstan, after guaranteeing for itself parliamentary majority “United Russia” would be forming the government that would secure implementation of the party ideas.
