Mintimer Shaimiev: «Tatarstan - not only oil republic, but also republic of aircraft construction»

Kazan Kremlin, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev held meeting with representatives of Fund for support and development of aviation and astronautics named after pilot - cosmonaut of the USSR Herman Titov.

The delegation arrived in Tatarstan capital consisted of the secretary general of Euroasian economic community, Board chairman of guardians of fund Grigory Rapota, Board chairman of the fund, the well-known pilot - cosmonaut, twice Hero of Soviet Union Pavel Popovich, the general director of scientific research institute of economy of the aviation industry, academician Alexander Isaev, the chief designer of the plane TU - 334 Igor Kalygin and number of foreign advisers of the fund.

Opening a meeting, the President of Tatarstan noted, that he is personally familiar with some representatives of fund. As he said, these people had brought in a huge contribution to development of national aircraft construction. «The world became open, and the opportunity even in such branch has appeared as aircraft construction to sit down at one table and to discuss concrete projects, it is already is achievement of our time», - the head of republic expressed opinion.

Telling about structure of economy of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev noted, that Tatarstan is not only oil republic, but also as he said, «republic of aircraft construction». The president reminded that there is the largest plant in Kazan producing and serving TU - 160 and TU - 214 - Gorbunov KAPO. Besides today competitive output is produced by the Kazan helicopter plant , production of aircraft engines provides the Kazan engine-building production association and others.
