Mintimer Shaimiev: in conditions of open economy there is no other way than energy saving

Today the VII international specialized exhibition "Energy. Resource saving -2005" has opened at the JSC "Kazan fair". President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev took part in opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Before the beginning of official ceremony Mintimer Shaimiev familiarized with the large-sized exhibits in the field of petrochemistry, energy and agriculture placed on open air then proceeded to the pavilion where the main exposition was staged.

Addressing to participants of the exhibition, RT President noted, that by results of implementing the program "Energy-saving in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2000-2005”, energy consumption of total regional product lowered on average by 38 percent.

"It is good that the international organizations and major companies realizing how to tackle with resource - saving take part at the exhibition, - M.Shaimiev noted. - Imagine, all the West is buying our energy triple the price and thus is making competitive products . And we, having the richest resources, are complaining all the time that the prices for energy carriers are great. But they would grow until achieving a level of the world prices. Therefore, we want whether or not, in conditions of open economy there is no other way than energy-saving, it is necessary to prepare for this".

RT President reminded, that the new Program of energy saving for the following five years was worked out which distinctive feature is that methods of its realization already have been elaborated for these years in branches and departments. There are no trifles in this business, - M.Shaimiev emphasized. - If somewhere one has managed to save up, it makes us more efficient, enables to reach a success. Having marked the success of exhibition, the head of republic expressed confidence that presented equipment and modern technologies would be claimed.
