President of Tatarstan took part in voting to representative body of Kazan

October 16, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev with spouse participated in voting for deputies to representative body of municipal subject of Kazan.

By the end of voting Mintimer Shaimiev answered the questions of journalists. According to the Head of the Republic, he was pleasantly surprised that electoral activity at his district was quite high – “Not lower than during regular parliamentary or presidential elections of Russia and Tatarstan”. It would have been be too optimistic, in the President’s opinion, if to account on the very same turnout. “Even if at least 50% of population comes – it is a good result. I hope, within myself, that probably it would be higher”, he said. Our Republic’s turnout could only be compared to the other Russian regions, where these elections have already passed or are being carried out as in Tatarstan.

Mrs. Shaimieva joined her husband. “I would wish the most deserved persons to be elected to local self-government bodies, who would justify the given credence of our people”, - said Sakina Shaimieva.
