Mintimer Shaimiev: « World is Open for Cooperation and We Must Take Advantage of it”

Deserving a wide spreading named the RT Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov experience of Tatarstan in the field of implementing international and foreign economic relations.
Studying experience of Tatarstan became one of the two issues in agenda of the session of Council of heads of RF subjects under RF MFA passed in Moscow with participation of RT President M. Shaimiev.

Participation of RF subjects in international and foreign economic relations has become a part of a world policy of the country. It is pleasant, that positive experience and potential of subjects in this field especially recently is more and more taken into account in activity of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Russia, President of Tatarstan noted. In his opinion, Tatarstan and a number of RF regions have passed a definite stage of becoming and today are capable to act as the effective tool in implementing foreign policy tasks of Russia.

In Mintimer Shaimiev's opinion, it is not worth to be limited only to economic cooperation, it is necessary to go on a way of extending spheres of cultural interaction. Taking into account that Tatarstan enjoys Euroasian mentality it could be a platform for developing cooperation with many countries in this direction. « The main thing, - President said, - one must show the initiative, and then it would be appreciated, I am convinced of it. The world is open for cooperation, and we should fully take advantage of it ».
