Mintimer Shaimiev: energy saved resources must be channeled for increasing salary of state employees and best lighting republic's cities

The republican target program "Energy -saving in Republic of Tatarstan for 2000-2005" successfully is approaching the end, the time has come for accepting the new program for next 5 years. This was the main context of the extended session of the RT Cabinet held with participation of President of republic Mintimer Shaimiev at expocentre "Kazan Fair".

Opening the session, RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov specified that one of the principal tasks is modernization of the industry, increase of its competitiveness and integration into the world economy. And this, according to PM, is impossible without transition to innovative basis and introduction of new technologies.

The cardinal objective of the program for 2000-2005 on assuring growth of total regional product and well-being of the population with the most effective utilization of fuel and energy and other resources as a whole has been fulfilled, first deputy of RT PM - minister of economy and industry Boris Pavlov informed in the report. It has been saved about 4 million tons of conditional fuel with the general economic benefit 6,7 billion roubles. Mid-annual rates of declining in power consumption of internal regional product of Republic Tatarstan has made 5,6 percent, that practically twice surpasses rates of decrease in power consumption of internal total product of Russia planned by Power strategy of the Russian Federation.

Mintimer Shaimiev during a session proposed two concrete proposals with regard to the new program and directed on raising life quality of people. First, the saved by the organizations of budgetary sphere funds should be directed on increase of salary of their workers. This, according to RT President , will be an efficient motivation for energy-saving. The second offer relates to setting up effective installations in cities of the republic, developing both thermal, and electric energy. The head of republic suggests to direct the additional electric power for additional illumination of city streets and regional centers. It will enable to make life of the city people more comfortable. In this connection Mintimer Shaimiev referred to the example of South Korea where there are no natural power resources, but cities are lightened perfectly.
