Mintimer Shaimiev: “60th anniversary of victory is the most grandiose event of the new century”

President Shaimiev presented the first medals “For heroic labour” to Great Patriotic War veterans – activists of the republican veterans’ social organisations during the festive meeting at the Kazan Kremlin.

Today, more than 25 thousand Great Patriotic War veterans, invalids and more than 199 thousand workers of the home front are residents of the republic. The President expressed gratitude to the veterans and marked that the oncoming holiday is the most grandiose event of the new century as today’s life was made possible thanks to sufferings and losses that our people experienced during the war. There were no other such large-scale destructive wars.
