Tatarstan President has taken office

The inauguration ceremony of the President of Tatarstan is held in Saidashev’s Grand Concert Hall.

Among the guests of honour present at the ceremony are: Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Sergei Kirienko, RF State Duma Deputy Chairman Oleg Morozov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for international issues Vasily Likhachev, RT Prime-Minister Rustam Minnikhanov, RT State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, deputies of the Federal Assembly, RT State Council, republican ministers, heads of administration of cities and districts of the republic, public leaders, industrialists, scientists, artists and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Opening the ceremony, RT State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin introduced the guests, announced the results of the voting by deputies at the RT State Council session and invited Mintimer Shaimiev to come out to the stage.

After the President came up to the stage of the Grand Concert Hall, having walked on the carpet strip, the state flags of Tatarstan, Russia and the Standard of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan were brought in. Then, the Head of the Republic with his hand on the Constitution of the Republic of Tatarstan took the oath in both Russian and Tatar and put his signature under the text of the oath. The anthem of the Russian Federation sounded first and was followed by the anthem of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On behalf of the deputies’ corps and on his own behalf the Head of the Tatarstan Parliament congratulated Mintimer Shaimiev on his taking office and wished him sound health and well-coordinated work in the name of the peoples of Tatarstan.

Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Sergei Kirienko read a telegram from Vladimir Putin, in which the Head of the Russian State expressed his confidence that the election of such a responsible an defective ruler as Mintimer Shaimiev would serve for the development of the richest social and economic potential of Tatarstan, safeguarding international and interconfessional harmony in the republic.

Then, Sergei Kirienko presented Mintimer Shaimiev with a symbolic gift – a young apple tree, noting that selectionists who had raised that sort said that such apple tree starts bearing fruits in four years, during the fifth one, and he wished Mintimer Shaimiev to gather apples from that apple tree while being a president.
