Putin and Shaimiev discussed preparation for Kazan Millenium

RF President Vladimir Putin discussed with RT President Mintimer Shaimiev the preparation for celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of Kazan in August this year. M. Shaimiev called the Kazan Metro opening the main event within the preparation works. He also said to V. Putin that on January 1, 2005 the program on dilapidated housing liquidation was accomplished. According to M. Shaimiev, as many as 49 thousand families received new flats. Besides, the RT President noted that on January 1 the new program for social mortgage started. It remarkably differs in its conditions from the Russian national mortgage program: the loan is given for 27.5 years at 8% per year interest.

It was decided that to give young families and those paid from the state budget the mortgage priority. Secondly, young families, after their first child is born, will be free from paying for 18 sq. m. of the apartment, the benefit spreads for another baby – again free 18 sq.m.

The RF President agreed that Tatarstan mortgage program could be spread over other regions of Russia. According to M. Shaimiev, 1.750 thousand sq.m. of housing was handed in 2004. He also noted that world largest trade companies came to Kazan and opened their trade centres. “It is a good sign for the other investors”, - he underlined, mentioning that investments to the fixed capital exceeded $3 billion.
