Mintimer Shaimiev: «The way of confrontation with the federal centre is not justified»

The draft law «On the introduction of amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Tatarstan», related to the new order of election of heads of the subjects of the Russian Federation, was adopted in the first reading at the session of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.

President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev marked that irrespective of the fact that the State Council would adopt the document or not, the further political processes in any case would pass within the framework of the federal law. «The republican parliament will nominate a candidate for President of Tatarstan. Upholding its position, the parliament should be ready for dissolution to be requested. In the given political situation the way of confrontation with the federal centre is not justified», - the President declared.
