Mintimer Shaimiev devoted a poem to Ilgam Shakirov

February 15 saw a recital devoted to the 70th anniversary of the prominent Tatar singer Ilgam Shakirov taking place in the G. Kamal State Academic Theatre.

President Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin and RT Deputy Prime Minister Zilya Valeyeva came to congratulate the singer, whose legendary name had become known a quarter of a century ago.

«In 2004, we signed decrees about the state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan and waited for a year to present you with the unique Tatarstan order «For Services to the Republic of Tatarstan», - the President said investing the singer with an eight-pointed star with number 1.

Mintimer Shaimiev's respect for Ilgam Shakirov's work is so deep that for the first time the RT President publicly came out as a poet with his own poem devoted to Ilgam Shakirov.
